Canadian Gert Harding (1889-1977) rose high in the ranks of the militant suffragette movement, eventually becoming head of the secret bodyguard for its leader, Mrs Pankhurst, the most recognized woman in the world.
This is the true story of Gert’s initiation into the movement in 1912, just before violence to property flames to new heights in the cause of votes for women. Her first protest march leads to a bitter family blow-up and a momentous decision for young Gert. While ignited by the idea of gender equality, this spirited farm girl from New Brunswick learns that following your beliefs can lead to heartbreaking personal sacrifice.
