It’s beginning to feel a lot like…oh crap - not this again.
Algar and Lucy have just moved in together and plan to get married. Lucy is an overworked party planner, the youngest of five sisters in a close-knit Scandinavian family who celebrate Christmas by eating stinky, smoked fish, doing quaint ethnic dances and honouring obscure saints. Algar has so far managed to skip much of the Yuletide bacchanalia during his relationship with Lucy but this year there’s no avoiding the highly ritualized holiday events and Lucy’s doggedly sentimental attachment to her family’s traditions. Algar has to take a stand or risk being overwhelmed, so he chooses a hill to die on: the Christmas tree.
