Hamelin - A New Fable by Leslie Mildiner

Just when you thought you knew the story of the Pied Piper, along comes this comedy-twisted, heat-tugging musical take on one of Europe's most famous folk tales. Set in Germany in the 13th Century, this is a tale to delight kids from "nein" to ninety...

Medieval Hamelin Town is way too big for its lederhosen, governed by a spoiled Mayor and stuffy Corporation Men who have no interest in hard-working townsfolk, the citizens of this hamlet are primed to learn some important life lessons. And who better to teach them than 10-year-old twins, Celeste and Ralph? Convinced that 'modern' Hamelin can't possible be as greedy or self-absorbed as there sweet Grandfather Johannes believes it is, the twins are shocked when the Mayor reneges on a major promise.

When it seems that no one, other than Johannes , keeps their word, Celeste and Ralph come up with a plan to make the grown ups 'wake up and smell the strudel.' Enter a hapless Minstrel, a band of rats getting above their station and a mysterious Flute that's seen better days.

“I have seen many school productions. Some of them awesome, some of them great. Your production of Hamelin at W L McLeod Elementary was amazing! The costumes, sets, music, and acting was superb! My K1 class was mesmerized without moving for an hour (not an easy thing to do)! Thank you so much!”

“Thank you for teaching our whole school an amazing lesson. You taught us that there’s more to a situation than you think there is. You also taught us that money can’t buy us happiness. I think I’ll remember these lessons for a long time. Thank you!”
William Konkin Elementary School

“Our school community would like to thank you for the excellent show you performed at our school last week. The school was humming your tunes long after you were gone. Many groups completed projects based on your play characters and I am hoping they will feel inclined to sharing them with you once they are all done. Thank you again for the talent, the energy, and the creativity you brought to our school.”
