Ninette lives alone on decaying Topsy-Turvy Street with her parrot Caruso and her goldfish Moby Dick. She hopes for an invitation to spend Christmas with her grandchildren but has heard not a peep. Lucien, the crotchety owner of a second-hand shop, is her only remaining neighbour. He’s is a born pessimist while Ninette is the eternal optimist so the two often quarrel over nothing. This delights young teenagers Zac and Max who spend hours together on the roof above the second-hand shop spying on the two old dinosaurs. Christmas is coming and the problem of where Ninette will spend it and what penniless Zac will give as gifts looms large … until a developer appears on the street. Then the real trouble begins.
