After the death of his sister, Dan sinks into a deep depression. Dan’s friends at his seniors’ residence struggle with how best to help him through his grief and hopelessness. AfterWhys focusses on the importance of hope and resilience for older adults who face mental health challenges, including suicide. This play also depicts, with humour and compassion, how we can all better support those around us who may need help.
AfterWhys was commissioned by the Suicide Awareness Council of Wellington-Dufferin, and created through a community-engaged process.
The Suicide Awareness Council of Wellington-Dufferin (SACWD) produced tours of AfterWhys in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, to mental health conferences, seniors' residences and community centres.
